American Exceptionalism is Great

NRA is More Popular than the President

Despite the gun-banning extremists waging war against the NRA, Gallup has come out with an updated poll that reveals The NRA has an approval rating with the public of 54%.

Congress has an approval rating of 9%.

60 percent of the pubic do not trust mass media.

And, not to be overlooked, The President of the United States was recently elected to a second term with…..

51% of the popular vote.

The anti-gun media will continue to lie and try and convince the masses that we are a tiny part of the population, but the facts are in: responsible gun owners and 2nd Amendment supporters are an overwhelming majority of this country.  We may still be winning, but that doesn’t mean you can rest easy – if you haven’t yet, write your Congress Critters and your local Legislators to express your concern for your 2nd Amendment rights.

The Updated Journalist’s Guide To Firearms

In light of the new wave of idiotic “news” reports, I’ve taken the liberty of updating the Journalist’s Guide to Firearms:

journalistguidetofirerarms-updated

The saddest part about this graphic is that it’s painfully accurate:

“…was also armed with a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver, a Mossman 12-gauge shotgun and the Bushmaster rifle.”

I Call it How I See It – State by State Predictions for the 2012 Presidential Election

Here’s where I think we’ll be when it all shakes out:

2012 election predictions

I know it may look to optimistic to some, but I think that Romney will take it with an overwhelming amount of electoral votes. I’d love to see Nevada turn red this year, but despite the horrendous economic conditions there, I think the muscle of the service workers unions puts Obama over the edge.

As far as the “swing states” go, Florida will handily go to Romney, and it will be close in Ohio, but no cigar for the Republicans. Colorado will comfortably go to Romney, and Paul Ryan’s good looks and ability to do math will bring Wisconsin to the dark side (where Walker will squeak it our for the win in the Senate race). I think Virgina will be close, with Romney ultimately getting the win after being the closest state race in the country.

And, a final local prediction – Arizona will go to Romney by at least 10 percent.

Who’s Watching the U.N. Poll Watchers in Arizona?

The rumors of UN poll watchers coming to the United States appear to be true, and Arizona has been spotted on the list of cities where UN poll watchers will be stationed.  If this list is accurate, The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) (a partner of the UN) will be sending 44 observers to locations throughout the US on Election Day to keep an eye out for “voter suppression activities by conservative groups“.  This OSCE published also shows that two UN poll watchers will be sent to Phoenix, Arizona – Aida Alzhanova from Kazakhstan (the country that could be the poster child for rigged elections) and Hans Kaboth from Germany.

The Attorney General in Texas has issued a statement that says, “The OSCE’s representatives are not authorized by Texas law to enter a polling place”, but how are Arizona’s officials planning to handle this UN invasion?

Jeff Flake, Representative for Arizona’s 6th Congressional District and candidate for US Senate weighed in on this issue last night during an NRA-ILA Grassroots Workshop in Arizona.  When asked if UN representatives would be monitoring the polls in Arizona, his response was, “It’s NOT going to happen.”  He then explained that they are not immune to Arizona’s election laws, and would need to stay at least 75 feet away from the polling stations on Election Day.

This morning, Arizona news and talk radio station, KFYI, was one of the first to report that Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett is warning these U.N. observers that “they are subject to arrest if they are in the polling places.”

We will have to wait until Election Day to see if these observers do indeed show up at any of the polling locations in Arizona.  If they do show up as planned, it will be very interesting to see if they decide to abide by Arizona law, or end up “observing” the interior of Tent City.

Tomorrow is Cabela’s National Ladies Day Out in several locations around the country, and this event features a whole bunch of great demos and seminars, including buying the right gun, archery and even how to make jerky.

I will be staffing Phoenix Rod & Gun Club’s IDPA table at Ladies Day Out, so stop by and I will tell you all about this fun and challenging sport, which requires a minimal amount of equipment and just a little bit of brain power.

Phoenix Rod & Gun Club‘s Practical Division has been kind enough to offer free shooting for ladies at all May IDPA matches. Check the calendar and come on out and shoot with us. Seriously. If you’re interested, please contact me, and I’d be glad to walk you through any one of the May matches.

Top Shot Tuesday – Season 4 Starts Tomorrow

Top Shot Season 4 imageIt’s that time again – the new season of Top Shot begins on Tuesday the 14th (10/9c), and the History Channel’s Top Shot Season 4 webpage has given out a few clues on what’s in store for the first episode:

Season Four begins with the biggest twist in Top Shot history: two competitors are sent packing immediately after a surprise shoot-off in the opening minutes of the first episode. Later, two shooters get a taste of WWII combat as they fire an M1 Carbine from a motorcycle sidecar and attempt to stay in the game.

This year, I don’t have a favorite going in, but I would like to see Michelle Viscusi do well, and not just because she’s a lady (though I freely admit that is a factor).  She’s practically a neighbor (she lives in the next city over) and competes at my home range, Rio Salado Sportsman’s Club.

Good luck to all of the competitors, and may the best PERSON win!

Top Shot Reunion at SHOT Show 2012

Top Shot Cast-SHOT Show 3 imageIt’s become a tradition for the cast members of Top Shot to meet up for a casual reunion during SHOT Show, and with three seasons under their belt and one on the way, this year’s event was bigger than ever.  So big, that it was pretty much impossible to get a complete group shot of all but a few of the cast of TopShotCast-SHOTShow-1characters, but as you can see from the photos, everyone involved had a great time.  In addition to just about all of the cast members from season 1 though 3, the contestants from season 4 were also in attendance.  You will be able to watch them get their game on in just over a week, as Top Shot Season 4 premiers February 14th at 10/9 central.

Thanks to Crimson Trace and Top Shot Season 1 winner and Media Relations Manager for Crimson Trace, Iain Harrison,  for hosting this unique event.  I think you’re gonna need a bigger boat next year.
